RAPCO promotes environmental education. Mass education will be undertaken to promote afforestation, discourage deforestation, encourage proper waste disposal, and natural resource management.
RAPCO is working to integrate gender justice into climate change through raising awareness and empowering women. Women play an important role in fighting climate change as their voice can be unifying call for bringing change
Environmental protection and sustainable development are Siamese twins. The extent of environmental degradation in Northern Kenya is beyond comprehension.
The use of charcoal and firewood as source of energy contributes to the continuing inherent environmental degradation. Apart from being a source of energy, trees are also used as a source of raw material for construction of shelters.
Activities under the environmental protection component are aimed at addressing environmental degradation in the project area and promote sustainable management of natural resources. The protection of human populations from effects of adverse environmental health-related risk factors is our major concern.
WE ARE AIMED:
To see an increased level of awareness and knowledge about the key role forests play for sustainable life on our planet
To stimulate activities that will help students achieve an increased level of environmental maturity irrespective of age and previous knowledge
Agroforestry and tree planting in schools and communities as a measure of mitigating and adapting to climate change
Using sports, arts, and music and mentorship initiatives to enhance students’ participation in forest conservation actions.
Partnering with corporates and other stakeholders to use of schools and communities schools to mark world important days for environmental conservation e.g. World Environment Day, World Day to Combat Desertification, World Day of Forests and World Water Day among others.
